Root Cause Finder

Accelerates root cause identification by analyzing correlated events, topology context, change history, and historical failure patterns.

Overview

Causal analysis across events, topology, change history, and past failures

Root Cause Finder helps operations teams respond faster and resolve high-impact situations with greater confidence. It gives SREs a head start by automatically pulling together the evidence they would otherwise have to chase manually across events, changes, logs, metrics, traces where available, and the live digital service model. A fleet of reasoning agents evaluates that evidence in the context of the selected situation, develops and revises root cause hypotheses, and presents a ranked explanation with clear reasoning. Teams can move from alert correlation to validated action faster, reducing triage effort, lowering MTTR, and improving service reliability.

Capabilities and value delivered

Core capability

Cross-source causal analysis

Applies causal analysis across correlated event data, the live digital service model, recent change records, and historical failure patterns.

Ranked hypotheses

Produces ranked root cause hypotheses rather than a single guess presented as certainty.

Evidence chains

Attaches supporting evidence chains, so responders can check the reasoning instead of trusting it.

Investigation guidance

Recommends investigation steps and links to relevant knowledge articles.

Continuous learning

Learns from confirmed root causes to improve future accuracy.

Value delivered

More accurate root cause

Reduces investigation detours and repeat incidents by focusing teams on the true cause of disruption.

Prevention focus

Helps teams use root cause insight to prevent recurrence by addressing the underlying operating condition, not just the immediate symptoms.

Faster to root cause

Mean time to root cause is the agent's secondary metric—the search starts from ranked hypotheses rather than zero.

Shorter investigations

Investigation time and mean time to resolve (MTTR) fall together.

Governed by default

  • Human in the loop: Disabled (analysis only)
  • Audit: Standard scope
  • Escalation: Low-confidence root cause on P1 incidents
  • Data scope: Event, configuration item (CI), change, incident records
